- The music is very eerie and creates a creepy tone. Heavy and slow base, use of wailing sounds makes it uncomfortable to listen to.
- The music contrasts with the beautiful scenery, the music makes the scenery less nice, creates a feeling of isolation, shows that music can change perception.
- Warner brothers film, also the credits are central and move from bottom to the top of the screen, this ensures that we see them as they are the main focus on the screen. Also the fact that they were in a large blue font makes them more easy to the eye.
- Just seeing the car driving in the middle of nowhere makes us ask questions. For example: Who is in the car? Where are they going?
- Also from just the opening sequence we can deduce that the genre of the film is horror/thriller.
- As the car is driving the roads get slowly smaller until it reaches the destination, which looks like some sort of hotel.
- Throughout the sequence the shot duration is kept long then it cuts to a different environment.
