What is a Music Campaign

Firstly, lets take- David Guetta, who is both A DJ and a record producer

He  achieved mainstream success with his 2009 album One Love which included the hit singles "When Love Takes Over", "Gettin' Over You", and "Sexy Bitch", all of which reached number 1 in the United Kingdom charts.

A prime example of one of Guetta's music videos would be:

 Play Hard ft. Ne-Yo, Akon

This video, starts like many of his, with a form of a story line, but then due to the DJ style of Guetta it breaks out and turns a bit more crazy. And such as in many of his songs which involve more djing, it follows people who are going to party, which is followed as a convention by most music videos involving DJ's

This song was from the album- Nothing But The Beat

which also had a digipak:

this was his 5th album and was released on August 26th 2011,  on November 30, 2011, the album received a nomination for Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronica Album at the 54th Grammy Awards

Finally David Guetta also has his own website, all of these aspects would have complimented each other in a synergistic from, and will have helped and will continually allow Guetta to have successful products.

Through the use of all 3 of these things, it is clear the Guetta is trying to compliment his DJ skills with having another artist singing for him. Which also helps in the promotion of the product. Guetta is a conventional DJ, who you can always find images of on the decks, and arguably also looks like a DJ through media, through things such as always wearing beats headphones, which he also promotes. which again will also help in has campaign as it could be said to be bringing cross media convergence into his campaign

Now lets take JME- Another artist, however who specializes in Grime style music.

He is the co-founder of the crew and label 'Boy better know'. JME is arguably alternative, as he could be said to be rejecting the stereotypes of grime music (eg, sex, drugs and violence)

A good example of one of his music videos would be-

INTEGRITY

This is typical of JME, as in difference to other grime videos, the whole video is just the camera focused on JME himself singing. He is rejecting the stereotypes of grime which tend to involve, sex violence and drugs and creates a more appropriate product for his audience.

Returning to Digipaks again, JME on this front does tend to follow the conventions, and his album covers tend to be fairly similar to that of other grime artists such as the leader in the British market - Dizzy Rascal

Finally JME also has his own website, again which works in a synergistic way helping his success. His website is just the majority of his songs able to be accessed for free. -

His album Blam! was released on 4th of October 2010, and was released by his own company Boy Better Know records. Charted 66 in UK albums chart and JME revealed that his brother drew the front cover of the album.
