World War Z

The stillness and serenity of the sand rolling against the shore and the shots of the sky and city when it was completely still and inactive. This is suddenly broken by the mass action of all of the workers heard together, cutting through the serenity leaving a  hectic, chaotic atmosphere. This is followed by another shot of the ocean however in this shot the waves are violently crashing against the shore to which is a representation of the fact that the earth was calm and still until humans ruined the original utopia that they once had and turned it into something angry and violent. Cooper very cleverly does this to represent humanities destructive infliction on nature and the environment.

Supporting this further, Cooper shows shots of people on their phones next to shots of dolphins dying on a beach which represents humans disinterest in serious issues that, though have damaging effects to the environment and the world as a whole, does not effect them personally and so they are unwilling to exist their comfort zone and this idealistic, perfect world that they created for themselves but doesn't actually exist. Cooper has done this to create a social commentary on society and it's selfish views, expressing that if they don't change their ways and consider what is going on in the world around them soon we will not be able to survive.
