Our Music Video shoot
was on thursday the 5th of November, and overall was a great experience.
Our day started with us
getting into school with our equipment , and getting all set up for out first
set, which was the underground DJ set. We were meant to start filming at 9
however the girls didnt arrive in till later as they had to pick up Kemi who
was our main actor fromt he train station. So me and Ollie got
everyone organized and contacted Grace and asked what the girls
needed done for their make up. Then me and Ollie went an put the final touches
onto our DJ set which involved sticking up our posters to help create our 90's
theme and choosing the lighting to support this as well. Finally we set up the
Dj decks on a table and covered it so it looked more authentic. Then the girls
arrived and put the finishing touches on the girls make up and costumes whilst
me and Ollie organised the Dj's into their clothing and the set. Then we played
the track for them so they could get an idea of it and what they wanted to do.
Finally we got started, i was on playback and the others had split camera,
directing and producing between them. We got some close ups, some wide shots
and some canted angles and even a hand held shot. We did as much as we could so
that we had a lot of footage to use when it came to post production. Everyone
started on the decks but then we needed to incorporate the boombox as it was
the centre of our video, so we moved Rob onto holding the boombox and busting
some moves with it which seemed to work well. Then for a few shots we moved the
girls in to dance around the boys, which worked well as it created a sort of
club scene
Heres a few snaps taken
by ollie of this set:
Because it took us so
long to set this set up and actually get recording by the time we had finished
it was nearly time for lunch, but we decided to use the three extra girls we
had and start them on their dancing. We put them infront of a coloured screen to
get the nineties look and varied the lighting and angles that were used to
record the footage. They danced as a group, and then on their own and then on
their own with a boombox. They were all dressed in 90's themed clothing which
helped go with the theme again
Our
final set was our rooftop scene with all of our characters being on a sofa on a
green screen and on the green screen we will put our roof top/ skyline idea.
Everyone was put on the sofas and told to just dance really and the three main
girls were singing the lyrics. We found it hard where to position everyone but
by the end we were able to find positions were everyone was visible on camera
and where they looked good. We did many shots of this scene as we kept trying
to fins somewhere t put the boom box and in the end we decided on putting it on
kemis lap who was in the middle of the sofa thus it would be the centre of
attention.
I
feel that the overall experience of the shoot day was really enjoyable, as i
was able to have a go doing everything such as playback and using the camera. I
feel our shoot went well after the little issue in the morning and that we were
able to work well as a unit and got what we actually wanted out of the
experience. After looking at some of the footage in post production i think
were all happy with what weve filmed and think it has the basis to be a good
music video. Now all weve got to do it put it all together
