We had guest speaker Ollie Allsgrove in to talk to us about the company he worked for called passion pictures

He told us all about his work there and gave us some information on it

·      Background- feature films, music videos, commercials

·      Passion pictures- nearly 30 years old

·      Passion- independent, Oscar winning, multi-award winning

·      Work- feature films, TV commercials, nature documentaries, the occasional music video

·      Story telling- animation, live action, design, visual effects

·      Talent management- represent directors, producers, VFX artists

·      How do they fit into music business- they offer a unique visual voice, they offer a creative point of view

·      Who makes the call- artists, commissioner, management

·      What does the artist want/need- hits, hits, hits, controversy, noise, impact

·      The brief, treatment, shoot, edit

·      Just a series of component parts

·      Don’t fix it in post

·      Executing other peoples ideas can be hard

He gave us a few examples of previous work for example he helped co-produce the film This Is England

And he also made a music video for Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong

As well as this he helped with the music of Rodriguez, a good example of one of his songs would be the Sugarman: Which was also an Oscar nominated documentary produced by Passion
